OPEN for Spring business........

Every thing's coming up tulips!  Open season for Spring blooms here in North Carolina.  Above, how they looked just opening early last week.  Note they are in pots - I no longer plant rather expensive tulip bulbs in the ground where they feed our visiting wildlife!

Taken yesterday, following a very warm weekend, the tulips have really grown.

Healthy looking lilies are peeking through the mulched flower beds................

...............parsley, ready for clipping for the kitchen and adding to dishes.  Pretty purple Thrift blooming, bluebell leaves will soon be surrounding deep blue bell flowers, one of my favorites in the Spring garden.

Pansies thriving.......had no idea I'd planted them on top of a peony last Fall!

At the Vintage Village where SuzAnna's Antiques is located, my other favorite place to shop for treasures is Two Old Birds. Delightful sisters, Susan and Debbie, are always adding wonderful items to their mix of antiques, collectibles, and vintage - they also do Home Staging.  When I see their OPEN sign out front I know my day will include a fun visit to their cute shop. They'll soon be starting their garden in front of the shop - potting benches, chicken coops, and an array of quirky containers will soon be massed with colorful plants - Susan, also a florist, and Debbie, always wow us with their gardening skills.

Update:  Not a thing crossed off my wish list at Saturday's community Yard Sale...........however, if you needed a baby stroller or a set of bunk beds, it would have been the place to go!  My hunting for treasure continues.

  1. Your flowers are beautiful Mary! I transplanted my parsley to a different raised bed two weeks ago and I hope it survives.

  2. Ooh, Mary. Just look at your blooms. Everything looks so pretty.

I am so ready to get my pots planted with seasonal blooms. Our dianthus has come up, and we have camellias and daffodils blooming. Oh, and lots of little shoots on the roses bushes.

  3. Isn't spring wonderful? All of the beautiful colors plus new life coming out, and I'm like you finding different things planted here and there. Of course with spring comes poison ivy, and of course, moi here as usual has to get into it!
I'm taking part of this morning while the sun is still hidden behind the clouds to do a little blog reading as I have been outside so much with little computer time. So, off I go to read more of your posts!
    Hugs to both of you!

  5. Oh the colour and the imagined perfume! I can't wait for spring to arrive up here.
Too bad your day was not fruitful, but then you have an iron-clad excuse for another day of shopping.

  7. I have an old silver tray I've been meaning to do something about. Perhaps I'll put it in the car on my next trip to Raleigh.
