Back to the beginning.........

This is where the sub-Antarctic journey started.................

Flying into New Zealand's North Island

Auckland, New Zealand - sailing away at sunset

First evening on the M/V Orion waiting to sail out of Auckland

Our fabulous warm expedition jackets were waiting - I even started to enjoy wearing red after the first day!!!

Being upgraded to the Owner's Suite was a special treat - such an awesome cabin with every comfort, including................

...........a large marble bathroom with sunken tub/shower and such special little extras such as a magnifying mirror. Easy to see that this ship is owned/designed by a woman, yeah!

Pedra Brancha, Tasman Sea

Everything in this lovely suite was comfy and perfect.  On the rough days as we rocked and rolled through some heaving seas, I was thrown around bit, but survived even a bad fall when thrown across Paula's bed onto the floor where I hit my head!

This was an awesome voyage .....more later.
I'm in Brisbane, Australia today and all I can say is that this is a trip of a lifetime!

  2. You had such a nice room! I didn't realize they could be this large! And the bathroom sounds terrific! Sorry about the rough seas and your accident. That really would have frightened me, but then again I am not crazy about the open sea!!

The picture of Auckland in the evening is beautiful. It looks like a postcard!

    Jane

  12. Your suite on the ship looks fantastic but I'm afraid even all that luxury would compensate me for rough seas - I am not numbered among the world's great sailors! So glad that you having a wonderful trip.

  14. Okay, I am pea green with envy... but I could never take a trip like that. I wouldn't be 'thrown around'... I'd be throwing up.

It is so much fun to enjoy your journey. Have a blast!!

  15. What a wonderful cabin, so posh, and a wonderful journey. But that's quite a sea running at Pedra Brancha, so no wonder you got tossed about somewhat. Looking forward to more pictures.

  16. Looks like you had top of the line accomodations! The beauty of New Zealand is unbelievable. I'm sorry Larry and I didn't visit there when we went to Australia. We opted for French Polynesia instead.

    You look terrific!
