Our neighborhood park and pond have been really scenic lately. . . . . .
. . . . . . and even the garden has sprung back to life with more color in
dahlia blooms - after I cut the plants almost to the ground ready for
winter - plus more roses and camellias.
We are incredibly busy lately - or perhaps incredibly slow getting
things done!! Bob is so busy daily raking and blowing the masses of falling
leaves and acorns, the latter huge, all raining down and covering every
surface. Mowing the grass continues as with the very warm
temperatures it continues to grow non-stop.
Daily doings just keep rearing their heads - some pleasant, others
ugly - all requiring time. Changing the clocks. . . . . . and then getting
up at 5 AM on Tuesday to watch the spectacular lunar eclipse in our
dressing gowns and slippers from the garden. . . . . . seem to have us,
well at least me, a bit groggy and unstable this week.
Despite the downs there of course plenty of ups and we feel
grateful that we can do what we do these days.
I see Holiday Open House signs and ads everywhere, and tomorrow
evening we plan to head to a favorite location of so many years,
SuzAnna's Antiques, at their always fabulous venue. Although they did
move from Raleigh and we have a much longer drive, we can't miss
it as there are many friends there to catch up with, and lots of holiday
merchandise to view. Just hope the coming heavy rains don't get here
until Friday. Driving at night in heavy rain is no longer fun for us - know
what I mean?
Are you ready to "deck the halls" yet?
I see some of you have already started. I will need to get
organized and and start pulling out the storage boxes soon!!

Also your garden did perform well.
We never blow leaves—our garden crew does mulch them while mowing the lawn and that's it.
No seasonal holiday shopping for us—none of them—year round that is.
Pieter and I have never fallen for the commercial brainwashing...
We have our hand carved wooden Holy Family with Baby Jesus from Italy and together with wooden angels from Italy that is perfect for our indoor display.

DeleteYour pictures are just stunning! No, I am not ready to pull the decorations out quite yet, but beginning to think about it. I usually go full force the day after Thanksgiving. Some gift shopping and card making done, but that is it.

DeleteDear Mary, Such beautiful scenes and such a riot of colors you photographed for us to enjoy. We are in a deep cold spell. Some of the trees still had their leaves and when it snowed it broke many major branches from my old trees. It's too early for it to be so cold. .
ReplyDeleteSorry the snow has come rather early dear Gina - after that lovely visit to sunny Sicily I know you may be feeling the cold. The broken trees are always sad, when we have ice storms I worry about the trees more than anything else!

ReplyDeleteThanks dear and yes, have just started cranking up the heating now the nights are chilly! BWT Vee, in regard to that picnic last month for the birthday girls - Jasmin and yours truly - we really did have fun and fortunately picked a perfect weather day, it was quite glorious!
DeleteSuzAnna's Antiques would be well worth going on a much longer drive because it is a social occasion based around everyone's passion i.e antiques. Imagine going to a social occasion where all the others just wanted to talk about horse riding or casinos... and you don't like gambling.

DeleteOoooh! My sister lives in Rolesville, very close to SuzAnna's, and it's her favorite place to shop, and now mine, when I visit from Illinois! So many cute, unusual and pretty things there, and the help are so kind and helpful! I've never left there empty-handed! Your pictures of your park are lovely!

DeleteWhat glorious colour in your photos, Mary. The park is beautiful just now. I hope you enjoyed your visit to the Antique store. I visited a local garden store all decked out for Christmas and became quite inspired. I won't do much decorating until December, though. Have a good week.
