Sharing the bounty..........

Blog friends are awesome. Sharing their interesting lives, their thoughts, their dreams............and sometimes even the bounty from their gardens! My dear friend Sara in Southern California became an online friend several years ago and we've kept in touch through our blogs. Hoping to meet in person one of these fine days, we are often in touch online, and we've shared several special books we know each of us might enjoy reading.

Sara's image of her tree - edited by me with her permission

Imagine my joy last week when a large box arrived, not books this time, but a selection of Sara's perfect and delicious avocados freshly picked from this lovely old tree in her garden! Truly, the very best avocados I've ever eaten. Again Sara, thank you for sharing and sending them all those miles across the country.
Our salads and sandwiches have been so tasty lately, yum!!!!

  2. Yum! I love avocados. In Sri Lanka they call them butter fruit. Our friend and business partner in Colombo sent us a box each of mangoes, bananas and coconuts recently so I have been sharing the bounty. Best wishes to you, Tammy

  3. Mary, can you imagine having an avocado tree in one's own garden? How wonderful! I eat avocado daily. It's one of my favorite foods. I slice it up on a sandwich, toss it in my salads, or just slice it and eat it. Of course guacamole is a favorite too. ;-) Enjoy your awesome gift.

  4. What a lovely and thoughtful gift!!
I love avocadoes too. I've started spreading them on my sandwiches in place of mayo. So creamy and good.
    Your playlist is so nice.

  5. What a very special and thoughtful gift! When I was first married we lived in S.California and had avocado trees all around us. I didn't appreciate them as I should have, now what I would give to have a tree like Sarah's.

  10. It has been a pleasure to read all your posts. My, Dubai has changed! When I went there in the late 1980s (last century) there were hardly any tall buildings.
Your garden looks so nice. We planted many pots of annuals but when we came back from New York we saw that half of them had been hurt by chipmunks – no more flowers. This is quite disappointing. We went to a hydrangea fair 2 years ago and bought two small plants, a white with blue buds and a blue one – they are starting to bloom. I hope they’ll get as big and strong as yours. What lovely avocado – yum yum!
