Wake up sleepy head................

I awoke to pouring rain this morning, my first day at home after a wonderful weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. I had planned to be up early, taking a walk, doing laundry, and checking the garden - instead I turned over and slept a bit longer. Now here I am in my usual place enjoying my usual coffee......and at least the laundry is going!

Visiting with two sets of precious friends kept us hopping. Treasure hunting at the antiques mall and a visit to IKEA (because we don't have one here) was fun but tiring. Each night we were definitely ready for bed after busy days in hot temperatures.

Falling into bed last night I couldn't help thinking how lovely ones own bed is. Our first hotel on Friday and Saturday had a bed much too cushy and soft, we awoke with back aches......remember we're old! It also had an air conditioner that clanked and kept us awake. The last night in another place was better - firmer mattress, quieter a/c - but only after having to change rooms before we unpacked because of a leaking bathtub faucet.

Lovely to go traveling...........wonderful to be home!

  1. You are so right. Curling up in my own bed with my own soft sheets and my own little kitty. Nothing like it especially after travel.

  2. I grew up in Charlotte NC :)
I have been sleeping in various beds for the past several months .. after our move from Buenos Aires back to the US.
I know how you feel, there is nothing like being back in your own bed.
    Welcome home ~

  3. I know exactly what you mean. I love to travel, but I love coming home, to my own bed, bath, coffee pot etc...

  4. Oh I know dear! I love traveling, wish I could every time I had chance, but wouldn't be nice if we could bring our own beds? lol Anyway, I'm glad you're home safe and enjoying yourself. Much love, Vanessa

  6. Oh yes, I find myself nodding my head in agreement. One's own bed is such a lovely place.

  7. Yes... it's all true. There is nothing better than ones own bed. To know this one must travel - which is great fun and then there is the homecoming... bliss. Enjoy the rain, it was 104 here today in sunny Texas.

  8. I couldn't agree more with you. Travel is a delight, then returning to your own bed is pure pleasure.
Glad you had a wonderful weekend.
