My Finnish friend.............

Delila lives in Finland........but wants to garden in England!
Delila and I met briefly in England last year, twice. First at the train station in Manchester, a few days later at Beatrix Potter's beautiful home Hill Top in the Lake District. Also along was delightful artist Eileen ('Milly' from Drawings From Nature) whom Delila was coming to visit. We three shared too few precious moments, but reinforced what until then had been an online friendship after finding each other via our blogs.

Besides being a student who has just graduated from horticultural college in Finland, Delila crafts beautiful jewelry - tender pieces of nature, delicate, soft and gentle around ones neck or wrist. Colors fresh, watery as in a still, deep pond.........glittering as in late afternoon sunlight.

Delila loves nature in all its simple woodland glory.

Delila has found a place to garden in England!

She has been offered a trainee position at beautiful Nymans Gardens, a National Trust property in West Sussex in southeast England. This is an unpaid position but she will be provided with housing during her training period of nine months. As she will need to support herself while pursuing her dream, Delila plans to continue designing and making her lovely jewelry once she is settled in England. Meanwhile she still has a few lovely pieces for sale in her Etsy shop HERE on her blog Acorn Gatherer. I always receive abundant comments on Delila's sweet jewelry when I wear my pieces - they bring nature closer and make you smile.

Here's wishing Delila good luck and much happiness as she follows her dream and moves to England. I think Nymans Gardens are going to be more beautiful than ever with her tender loving care.

  2. How lovely! I had a penpal in high school who was from Finland. I have always regretted that we didn't stay in touch. Now I don't even remember her name. Shame.

  5. Lovely jewlery.
Nymans sounds very familar to me don't know why, maybe because it's just a hop, skip and a jump from my school friend who lives in Hassocks, Sussex.
    Hope you are feeling better.
