Promise of a new day. . . . . . .

The sunrise can be beautiful but fleeting.
Here in the garden I was just in time to take a
photo of this female Cardinal in the fig tree
this morning. . . . . . . the sun illuminating her
feathers and turning them to gold.

One more quick snap and I caught the magnolia
in the early sunlight. . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . and the first of the tulips not yet eaten by visiting deer!!!
I have a feeling my tulips may disappoint this year.

    1. Thanks Penny. It's just my 'only camera' now (other than my iPhone7+) the SONY Cybershot DSC-HX400V set mostly on auto - gave the big hefty Canon DSLR to Jasmin!

  3. Magnoilaus are so lovely. There seem to be many of our local places which have beautiful pale pink Magnolias.
I always enjoy your bird photos, as they are so unlike any we have here.

  4. Magnolia will take at least another week or two before they start blooming here, I guess. Also, I have not yet seen any tulips outside a florist's shop yet this year. So beautiful!

  5. For a moment there I thought you had one of those elusive yellow cardinals. It looks absolutely stunning in the sunlight. Good luck with your tulips. We can't have them anymore because of the deer.

  8. Oh how charming Mrs Cardinal is, with her soft fluffy feathers in beautiful tones!
The sight of the Magnolias flowering is one of the first signs of Spring here.
I love the pretty birdhouse - Reston could easily make one for me if he ever got his head out of a history book haha! Tell me Bob made it for you and I'll put my boy to shame!!
Your tulips look very healthy, are you feeding them a special diet?...
Lovely to have a wander around your garden and see whats new.
Mary, it's fig time here and although we haven't got a tree a friend gives them to me - I think of you every time I eat them!
Much love and make the most of Spring... it doesn't last long.

  9. That cardinal is stunning. How I wish he would come and visit me too. You are further along with spring. The tulips are just peaking out of the ground, but daffodils are beginning to open. Oh the thrill of it all.
