......................if only real Winter weather would get here! Much too warm, hit 65 yesterday. Rain rather than snow last night. Brilliant sunny, mild morning now. Birds and squirrels busy on the feeders. I'm having my breakfast too...........hot, healthy oatmeal with strawberries and blueberries. Love my linen napkin with the silver crown, thanks to Rachel Ashwell. Why not be a queen even when eating lowly porridge!
What do you eat for breakfast?
I love your napkins too! This morning I have a half of a whole wheat English muffin with peanut butter and half of a ruby red grapefruit.
ReplyDeleteI love oatmeal too. When I have it I add blueberries, dried cranberries and toasted almond slices.
Hugs,
Penny
Sadly, I don't enjoy porridge or oatmeal or any hot cereals, even though they are considered healthy. I usually have a bowl of cold cereal with a banana sliced on top or blueberries if I have them. It's wonderful to get 'fresh' berries from way down south (California, Florida, Chile) all year around now. I much prefer local fresh berries in season though. Enjoy your lovely weather Mary. Pamela
ReplyDeleteI left cold, snowy Bend on 1/5 returning on 2/9 .. I am not missing the shoveling, sliding, slipping, falling one tiny bit! It is beautiful in Atlanta/Roswell today. Spent last weekend in Panama City Beach which was amazing. Fresh seafood, sunshine, lots of long walks. Love hot cereal and your napkin (which you deserve by the way.)
ReplyDeleteThat porridge looks delicious. Here today it is ten degrees warmer than yesterday but the mud has taken over. We had our car valetted yesterday after a service - it is a black car and after my trip out in it this morning you would think it was mud coloured.
ReplyDeleteDuring the Winter months I have porridge with a bit of brown sugar, juice and coffee. For the rest of the year I lighten it up a bit with cold cereal or toast or English muffins with peanut butter and jam along with some fresh fruit of some kind.

I love that napkin! No more cooked oatmeal for me - had too much in my younger days. Now my breakfast of choice is blueberries (partially thawed) with plain yogurt and a sprinkling of sunflower seeds. With tea or hot lemon water.
ReplyDeleteOur mild winter has taken a turn for the real thing this week here on Vancouver Island. Snow is falling and school is cancelled. It's lovely and quiet.
Mary, that beautiful napkin and a bowl of oatmeal would start my day off with a smile! I agree, we've had days in the high 70s. I'm not wishing for snow or ice, but I would like to be wearing sweaters. Fortunately today is cool, but the next few days are going to be back up into warm temps. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteA bowl of Multi-Grain Cheerios, glass of water, cup of coffee and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.....lots of liquids! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour porridge looks real luxury! And why not eat it with a napkin.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy weekend breakfasts, when we use all our best cutlery and crockery.

Oh, can I say how much I've enjoyed your Magical Macquarie Island photos. Those penguins are stunning and how special to see them for real.
ReplyDeleteUnforgettable.

It is sunny and cold here in Texas today. Your napkins are cute - love the crown. My morning oatmeal usually has brown sugar and cream. But tomorrow I may go with blue berries - you've made it look so good. Don't worry, winter will come soon enough - and with any luck it will be gone and spring will arrive in about 60 days...
ReplyDeleteOatmeal is my favorite autumn and winter breakfasts. I put dried cranberries and walnuts in mine. It has been rather warm here as well. It is a roller coaster ride this winter. Makes me worry a little about our next summer here in the south. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI am not much of a healthy breakfast eater. I usually have toast or a scone and maybe fruit, but of course a small pot of tea. Your bowl of goodness looks rather yummy!
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I love the napkin!
ReplyDeleteOatmeal for breakfast....mmmmm.
I'm on the road, so breakfast is coffee and a muffin, on the run. At home, it's very seedy bread, a boiled egg and two cups of coffee.
I love oatmeal with just milk and maybe a sprinkling of truvia. When I first looked at the picture I thought there was black olives in it :)
