Sunrise on Sunday. . . . . .

I've rarely seen such a magnificent sunrise off to the east across the garden.

My best sunrise memories are from Autumn mornings at the coast, viewed from a
high floor hotel balcony. Watching the sun creep up from the horizon, throw
down a golden carpet and unroll it across the pewter ocean, sometimes all the way
to tide line along the beach, is breathtaking.

This morning's surprise came close. I grabbed the camera and dashed outside.
Sunrise or sunset. . . . . they are always too brief.
Thankfully, the ancient mariner's rhyme, 'red sky at morning sailor's warning'
forecasting rain, isn't expected. Here, the entire day looks close to perfect.
At last we can enjoy true Autumn weather. . . . . . . this morning I actually
felt quite a chill in the air, and I welcomed it.

Sunrise ~ 7:20 AM today

Have a special Sunday wherever you are.

  1. Beautiful Mary. I think I am happy for cooler temps but we had only one week from too warm to cold. I expected fall to linger for a while. Guess, I'll just be happy whatever, though I'd like to see some skies like that and not gray days. The sparrows that hatched this year under the eaves of the porch are waiting each day for seeds. I'll have to put the feeders up. Donna@Gather

    1. Oh yes Donna, we have to keep feeding our lovely birds - they bring life to the garden when all around is sad and dreary.
Now looks like rain coming after all!

    1. So sorry your plans have been spoiled by rain! I think perhaps we'll get some after all - the sun disappeared and it's dreary out now.
Maybe that 'ancient mariner' knew a heck of a lot more about predicting weather than all the useless meteorologists and tech equipment of today!

  4. Breathtaking skies - Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me!
What a start to the day!
Sunrises like these have inspired the great poets…

I hope it will be a good day for you dear Mary - come rain or shine.

  7. Those are gorgeous sky photos. What amazing colour. We are in the midst of a prolonged ridge of high pressure and our weather is glorious. Chilly nights that dip down just above freezing, and afternoon temperatures that have us shedding coats and sweaters to bask in the sunshine. I'm not complaining at all! I'm glad things are starting to cool down for you.
