Winter homes for wrens.............

My Carolina Wrens are still very active.............coming to the front porch constantly. I was about to remove the now dead Boston ferns this week, their crisp brown leaves do look very sad, however, every afternoon the pair of wrens arrive around five o'clock, have a little chirpy conversation on the porch railing, then hop into the two hanging baskets where they spend the night.  Isn't that precious.

Anyone passing by doesn't know why the dead plants remain, probably think how untidy they look.
Me, I love providing Winter housing for our feathered friends.

  1. That's so sweet Mary :o) It does no harm to leave a few little 'untidy' places for our animal friends.
    Take care dear

  2. The nest is a particular sort of Christmas gift - only for those who see it and appreciate it. Lucky you!

  3. I love Wrens - my favourite little bird in the garden. I enjoy the way they scuttle around on the ground, they look like little clockwork mice.
    Great photos.

  4. It's like having a furnished apartment -- they just move right on in and don't have to do all the building and fixing. :) Happy holidays to you! Tammy

  7. That is so sweet ! I know how you feel, I used to worry about keeping things comfortable for the little visitors in my garden. I am so excited about our upcoming move back to the US, where I will once again be in a house with trees and gardens and birds :) Happy Holidays ~

  8. That is too cute! I would wonder the same thing if I saw the baskets but they make a perfect safety nest for the night for the wrens. No one needs to know. Maybe you could make a sign that says "Night lodging - all wrens welcome". :() Warm hugs. Pamela

  9. Every bit as beautiful and even more wonderous than the freshest hanging basket of flowers could ever be. The little wrens have found a safe haven in your hanging baskets. I suppose a "Wren Haven" sign might frighten them away. Looking forward to spring, maybe your little birds will have Wren Haven babies.
