Friends and elephants!

Sunny Saturday afternoon brought a surprise visit - with social distancing of
course - from our very special friends Mary Ann and Jim. A quick stop to hand us
the most adorable cloth masks made by Mary Ann (and she's stitched dozens
 more for others).
Bob's is a gorgeous blue, mine this fabulous elephant print. . . . . . .because
best friends know what you love, and I love elephants!
I'm loving a real washable fabric mask - can't wait to go shopping for food this
week and displaying it at Costco!

Of course thinking of elephants made me take an online journey back to Africa
this lovely spring morning.  I looked up my posts of the three fabulous safaris
which took me to Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya, and
am sharing a few of my dozens of favorite photos I took of the beautiful, often
 mystical, elephant encounters I had.

I was going to say "DON'T LAUGH" - but what the heck go ahead and laugh all
you want - because we all need a giggle to keep us smiling in these difficult days!
Thank you again dear Mary Ann and Jim - we love you guys.

Show us your masks - and please be certain to wear them when and where required.

  1. I don't actually wear a mask but if I had one as lovely as yours then I might. I have just seen an hilarious set of photos taken of people in France. One was walking around the shops in full diving gear including a snorkel, another held a golf umbrella and was totally encased beneath it in a polythene tent, one lady wore a pretty spotted pointed cardboard pointed party hat over her mouth and nose, and one man was walking around in a full length cardboard box with cutouts for his eyes and arms.
I have mentioned on a comment to you on my blog today dear Mary, that it is exactly one year today since we met in Bath. Hopefully it is something that we can to do again one day.

    1. . . . . . . . and it was a fabulous day in Bath with you and J. Hope to do it again some day - like you, we're missing travel but plan to get going some time soon hopefully.
      Hugs -

  4. What a lovely mask, I agree with Vee, the best one I've seen so far. I so enjoyed your little tour and LOVE the photo of the elephants in the golden light (sunset?)

Wishing you a pleasant evening, Mary. After a good rainy day, the evening has melted into a golden evening. The sun is about to set. The gulls are swirling in the sky.

    1. Yes Brenda - it was at sunset - took lots of lovely photos of a large herd that evening.
Evenings are my favorite time of day - no matter where.

  5. What a lovely surprise, your best friends visiting AND having such a beautiful and useful gift!
You have already seen my mask a few weeks ago on my blog :-)
Like you, I have been revisiting old posts from former holidays; I'd so love to go to Jersey again, and of course I miss Yorkshire...

    1. I want to go to Jersey and the other Channel Isles too - never visited even though I lived so close to them growing up! Parents didn't have money for holidays outside of England back then, and it's never been convenient since. Some day perhaps we'll make it.

    1. Yes, with you on that one Jackie - I have very little that's nice to say about that woman! Can get my elephants from many other wonderful videos that have been filmed over the years!
      Stay well dear friend.

  7. Dear Mary,
Talk about close and personal. I know that you have a terrific camera but even it can only do so much. What fabulous shots of elephants.
I can discern a bit of your new hairdo. It looks very nice from here.

    1. I'm useless at taking selfies - just wanted to show the mask but not the wrinkles!!!!!!!
My hair stylist called today - she's hoping the state will allow her back to work the beginning of June - OMG what wreck I'll be by then!

  8. Best mask award goes to Mary! What a perfect pattern for you. Your friend knows you well. We're not wearing masks here. It's a beautiful sunny day here. I've spent a couple of hours in the garden liberating some plants from weeds, and now I'm about to have lunch and then do some checking in on students.
I hope your day is wonderful!
