Lonesome dove . . . . . . . .

Before the freezing rain early this morning there was yesterday. . . . a chilly day
but with a spurt of morning sunshine before changing to overcast skies.
Sadly, the thick cloud cover blotted out that beautiful Super Snow Moon here.
Hopefully you were able to see it.

I saw the lone dove when I opened the blinds, such a quiet and gentle bird.
There are several pairs in the garden so it was unusual to see one all alone.

. . . . . . . . . beaten down by the rain today, but still a spot of bright color in the
 February garden.

  1. Mary,

This is a beautiful photo! My husband loved doves and enjoys seeing them when they visit the bird bath or when they sit and rest in our rock garden.

Have a wonderful day. Stay warm.

    1. They are so quiet even when scuffling about in the undergrowth - soon they will be cooing as mating season will start! They are delightful birds.

  2. Daffodils really raise the spirits, dont they. Thank you for all your kind messages, Mary. We are taking each day as it comes, slow and steady.

  3. Sweet dove and pretty daffodils. We have ice covering everything here.

  4. Your lovely daffodils are the brightest thing I've seen all day. This gloomy weather has overstayed it's welcome and seems to be planning to stick around for several more days. Love your photos of the dove on the bird bath. He/she looks right at home with the design of the bath. By the way, thanks for your input on the fig plant. Your great success with them is part of the reason I want to grow one. I'm thinking we don't have enough room for one unless I can find a dwarf variety.

  7. Beautiful dove, beautiful daffodils! I think we have another week before our daffodils open, but I am watching closely.

  8. Poor little dove, no doubt lost its partner. They do seem to grieve; we have seen that here too. Love the daffodils, and so nice to see Spring in the air for you.

  9. Too early yet here for the daffies, but aconites, snowdrops and crocus have begun to appear about 2 weeks ago. Maybe the lone dove has lost his or her partner.
